Mary L. (Ryan) McNamara

Suddenly and sadly, on January 26, 2020, Mary L. McNamara, (nee Ryan) went home to be with the Lord.  She was 93 this very day.

Born the daughter of Thomas and Anastasia (nee Hawco) Ryan in Newfoundland, Canada, she would move to New York with her beloved sister Rosaleen McGrath (late) at the tender age of 16.  She would later live in New Jersey, finally settling in Maryland in 1971.

Mary, a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park, was not only a dedicated parishioner attending mass daily but was involved in several ministries including being an usher, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the rosary guild and the prayer group, "Joy in the Spirit."  She dearly loved serving the church and the community at large.  

In the same fashion she served as a Registered Nurse for many years.  Mary worked in the emergency room at the former South Baltimore General Hospital, was for a time a nurse for Westinghouse and also served at  Kimbrough Army Hospital during Desert Storm, earning awards for her dedicated care.  She was a licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist as well, vocations focusing on the well being of others.

Though she was involved in many things including painting in acrylics, Mary's deepest joy was found in spending time with her family especially her "Little Edward."

Mary is reunited with her late husband of 57 years, William J. Jr., who passed a number of years before her.  She is survived by  her loving sons, William "Bill" J., III and his wife Vicki, Sean P. and his spouse Theresa, Brian V., Patrick K., and Edward H. McNamara and his wife Linda.

She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelley, Allison, Erin, Shalyn Van Note, Shannon, Joshua, Fallon Smith, Liam, Brion, Tierney, Garrett, Timothy, Teigan, Sean and Edward W. McNamara.  Mary's legacy continues with her 9 great- grandchildren.  

Numerous friends also lament the loss.
