Leonard Jakobowski Obituary

On December 12, 2019, Leonard E. Jakobowski, passed, in the fullness of his ninety-first year.

Born in Baltimore, the son of Alexander Bernard and Flora Mae (nee Butts) he would ultimately come to settle and live out his life in Glen Burnie.

Leonard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and later continued his service to the country as a retiree of both the Federal and State governments.  He became a Mason in Ohio and was a member of the Boumi Temple here in our area.  Len also belonged to American Legion Post 40.

It was noted that he was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.  He liked reading the newspaper and watching television and being at home.  When he did venture out, Leonard enjoyed the company of his wife and many friends on numerous gatherings at Sunset restaurant.  He was also a fan of horse racing and visited the turf for many and varied events.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 69 years Dorothy L. (nee Wendel) as well as his only son Mark, the husband of Lynn Jakobowski.  His dear granddaughter Alexandra Jakobowski laments his passing.
