Glenda Haygood Obituary

On January 24, 2019  the sun set for dear Glenda J. Haygood, who went home to be with her Savior.

The daughter of Robert and Josie Mae Marshall, both late, she was born and spent her youth in Selma, Alabama.  For 34 years she has resided in the Laurel/Savage area and most recently Glen Burnie.

Glenda is a veteran of the United States Army, where she met her dear late husband Cedric W. Haywood, Sr., so many years ago on a double date.  They would be married for a quarter century before Cedrics' passing.  Glenda continued on for many years as his devoted widow.

For many years Glenda practiced as a Registered Nurse for various medical practices and even the Veterans Administration.  She retired after 35 years of service.  When not engaged in her vocation, she enjoyed spending free time shopping, crafting and watching horror movies.  She also enjoyed cookouts with family and friends present.  It was said that she loved the holidays and cooking a feast for all to enjoy.  This was part of her loving personality.  She was a very hospitable person.  She loved everyone and never held a grudge.  "She wanted to save the world", one commented;  "If you needed a place to stay, you had a place to stay," and "She would give you the shirt off her back," said another.

Most importantly Glenda is remembered for "loving her babies," and being a dedicated Christian woman.

Surviving her are her loving daughters Taquita K. and Lanisa C. Haygood and fiance' Jason Brown.  Glenda leaves her dear sons, Sean M. and Cedric W. Jr., and his spouse Crystal Lynn (nee Knight.)  She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Jaylyn and Nathaniel Haygood as well as her loving siblings, Gloria Mobley and Bob Marshall and the late Lucille, Monica, Tim and Henry.
