With deep regret we announce the passing of Gary N. Wood at the age of 81. Gary was larger than life, standing over 6 and a half feet tall. He was a lymphoma survivor which he beat 9 years ago and enjoyed life for many more years. He was a man who loved his fishing trips on the Chesapeake Bay and the Outer Banks, SC and enjoyed going on cruises and traveling with his dear wife of 58 years Joan. Gary kept a huge vegetable garden that supplied half of Glen Burnie. In the past he was also very active in the Boy Scouts. He was a veteran, a retired 'pencil sharpener,' for an otherwise undisclosed government facility and a volunteer for Operation Welcome Home, welcoming returning military servicemen at BWI airport. Since he lived in Glen Burnie close to the airport he would go there even in the wee hours of the morning to welcome the troops back. Whenever he got the call, he went. A man who served his country and then gave back to those who still serve.
Surviving him are his daughter Kathleen M. Miller and sons Patrick K. and spouse Cindy, David G. and wife Judith Mann and Scott A. wood and spouse Irene. His legacy continues to grow in his grandchildren Kelsey, Thomas, Cecelia, Andrew and Aiden Wood and James, Elizabeth and Alexander Miller. Gary is the devoted great-grandfather of Caraline and Harrison Salazar. He is also survived by two sisters Sheila and Marion and a brother Robert Wood.
As we say farewell, we release Gary N. Wood to the keeping of the Ages.
