On March 29, 2023, Elaine Margaret Ridgeway passed after a courageous fight with cancer. She was 73.
Born the daughter of Roland and Mary E. (nee Elder) Ridgway in Baltimore, she would come to live in the Glen Burnie area and finally in York, Pa.
Elaine is a graduate of Glen Burnie High School, class of 1967. After finishing school she worked for over 20 years at Fort George G. Meade in the printing service for the Army. She performed many functions in the printing department receiving promotions as she learned new and more difficult activities. When printing functions in the military moved to the Defense Automated Printing Services (DAPS), Miss Ridgeway continued working as a Document Automation Assistant for over another 12 years in DAPS. In June 1993 she received the Commander’s Award For Civilian Service from the Department Of The Army. In September 1997 she received the Achievement Medal For Civilian Service from the Department Of The Army. Miss Ridgeway retired from the Civil Service in 2002 with 36 years of service.
She liked working in the garden and reading mystery/thriller/adventure stories. Two of her favorite authors were J. D. Robb and Clive Cussler.
Elaine is survived by her brother and many cousins.
