William Scott “Bill” Gahs found his eternal peace on Monday, August 3, 2026, in Towson, Maryland. He was 70 years old, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him

Bill grew up in his father's wholesale greenhouse business, finding his life's work before he was old enough to go looking for it. After graduating from Perry Hall High School in 1975, Bill was accepted into the Professional Gardner Program at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, as one of eight candidates. Graduating in 1976, he returned home to the family business, beginning a career in horticulture that spanned five decades. In 1989, he started Viewpoint Landscapes, and later ran the family's store front, the Country Plant Store, until it closed in 2000. Bill remained active in the commercial horticulture community as a buyer and professional estimator. In 2022, he joined Empire Landscape as a buyer. Drawing on relationships built over decades. He was proud to work on the Tidal Basin Seawall Replacement project at the National Mall, knowing those trees will bloom and be enjoyed for generations to come.

Bill was gregarious and quick to trust people, he kept his friends, he let himself be happy through the happiness of the loved ones around him. He played men's fastpitch softball in the 1980s and golfed for years afterward. A longtime Baltimore Ravens PSL season ticket holder, he spent fall Sundays tailgating and going to games with family and friends. He visited his grandchildren often, coming to swim meets, birthday parties, and was our favorite clown and worst dancer.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy; his father, Lockered "Bud" Gahs (Angela); his sons, Lucas (Charne), Matthew (Shannon), and Tyler (Anna); his grandchildren, Charlotte, Rosalie, and Avery; and his siblings, Steve, Christina "Chris" (Joe), and Debbie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thurley Gahs, and his sisters, Sandra "Sandy" (Bernie) and Suzanne "Sue” (Jay).
