IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Hearel
Gunn
December 11, 1952 – December 31, 2019
On December 31, 2019, Walter H. Gunn passed surrounded by his loving family. He was 67.
Born in North Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of William D. Crislip, who he called "dad," and Anna (nee Blackburn).
He later join the Army and travel extensively throughout his career. He was back and forth to Maryland, having spent 13 years in Florida, ultimately settling in the Glen Burnie area for the balance of his years.
During his days in the military, Walter held many and varied jobs, including a tour as a Recon/Cavalry Scout, Personnel NCO and Recruiter, as well as Military Intelligence. He retired from the Army in 1986 as a Sergeant First Class after years of honorable service.
Walter is a two time retiree, having worked in the telecommunications field when Jones Intercable introduced cable television to the area and was also the Senior Regional Manager at Brighthouse Network.
When he wasn't busy in his vocations, Walter enjoyed spending time with family, traveled extensively and was a history buff. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage, descending from one of the oldest Highland clans, clan Gunn, "Aut Pax Aut Bellum." The gathering of the clans for Scottish games brought him great joy and pride of place whenever he could attend.
Walter joins his dear wife again, the late wife Katherine Lee (nee Covington), whom he has deeply missed.
He is survived by his sons, Billy, and spouse Karen and Jamie and wife Anne Gunn. He will be missed by his loving sisters, Dorothy (and husband Tom Kitselman), Toni Moreno and brother Bill Crislip (and wife Wendy) as well as many neices and nephews and his cherished grandchildren, Casey (and Lucas Whoolyhand), Mary, Ian, Jesse, Randi Jane, Markie Lynn, Autumn, Heather, Ben, Katie and 10 beloved great-grandchildren, all of whom he was incredibly proud of.
