Obituary

Rolland Hinz of Linthicum passed away on December 8, 2013, surrounded by his family, after a long illness. He was born on December 22, 1929 in Lyons, IL, the youngest child of Fred Hinz and Bertha Mester. Rolland was an Army veteran who served his country in Japan during the Korean War. He was employed at Westinghouse for 39 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1991. Rolland worked on the Apollo 11 moon camera, among many other programs, during his career. He was a fastidious reader of World War II history, and enjoyed working on all sorts of home improvement projects, and was incredibly talented at fixing anything and everything. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary (nee Bocklage) of the home address, two children, Mary Rappoccio of Severna Park and Robert Hinz of Gaithersburg, and grandchildren David and Rachel. He was predeceased by his 7 siblings, and his son Jeffrey Hinz. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 11 between 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Fink Funeral Home, 426 Crain Hwy S in Glen Burnie, with services to be held on Thursday, December 12 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, located at 308 Oak Manor Drive in Glen Burnie. Interment:  Glen Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 308 Oak Manor Dr, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061-5557 or call (410) 766-2283.
