Obituary

Rita Theresa Barazotto (nee Belanger) passed away, at the age of 78, on December 2, 2015, in her home that she had happily lived in with Robert Louis Barazotto, her husband of 58 years. She was the mother of Robert L., Jr. and his wife Kathy, John M. and his wife Cathy, James R. and Nancy J. Taylor and her husband, Steve.  She was the loving sister of the late Helen Martins and Irene Arnette, devoted grandmother of Kristy Curtis, Ryan Barazotto, Kaitlin, Ben, Nathan and Leah Taylor, Christopher, Patrick, Phillip and Daniel Barazotto and cherished great grandmother of Audrina Curtis. Rita loved her family and friends and loved nothing more than socializing.  She thought the day that she met Robert on a blind date was nothing short of a miracle because how could this angel have fallen so head over heels in love with her.  She loved being a mom and grandmom.  She was their chauffeur, cook, and tutor, but most of all, their biggest cheerleader.  Everyone was welcome in her house (as long as you were nice to her children), and guests had to have a second serving of food (this always pleased the cook). Her guilty pleasure was watching her "soaps", which had to be videotaped while she was at work or going out with her friends on Tuesdays (which her family named the "coffee club"). Nothing got in the way of Tuesdays—no exceptions! She loved a bargain, or as she would say a "bagain", and could not resist a clearance sale. She was always heard before being seen and you knew if she was present. She never dressed in the latest fashion or had the finest jewels because happiness was not measured in "things or stuff" but time well spent with family and friends. She was a grandmother who would sit outside all day so her grandkids could swim or pile whichever kids she had that day into the car to go to the movies, the park or wherever they may have wanted to go. Just hanging at Grandma's house was better than Disney World "hands down" if you were to ask the grandkids.  She would stop anybody to brag about her family and would definitely show photos because no one else could have possibly had a family like hers. What a feeling to wake each day and feel like you were the most important person in the world. Everyone should experience this as we all did being part of her family. She worked for 30 years at Holy Trinity Church.  She often spoke of the fabulous people with whom she was blessed to work. She was a strong believer in God and we believe that God has chosen to set her free of the bondage of Alzheimer's. We keep the faith that we will see her again. The family asks that in lieu of flowers; please do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at Fink Funeral Home, 426 Crain Hwy S. in Glen Burnie where services will be held on Wednesday, December 16 at 12:30 PM. There will be a celebration of Rita's life held on December 16, 2015 from 3:00-6:30 PM at Holy Trinity's Church Hall located at7436 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Glen Burnie.
