IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rachel Virginia
(Knotts) Monda
August 1, 1933 – May 1, 2022
Sadly, on May 1, 2022, Rachel Virginia Monda (nee Knotts), passed surrounded by her loving family. She was 88.
Born in Aurora, WV, she was the daughter of John James and Eula Dorothy Jane (nee Stemple) Knotts.
Rachel grew up on a farm and was a graduate of Elk Garden High School. At age 23 she came to Glen Burnie where she would settle for her life. She married her dear Carmen M. Monda, Sr. (late) and raised a family together. When her children were able to attend school, she worked to support the family at Maryland National Bank for a time but returned to be a homemaker ultimately. She would say that her musical talent was playing the radio and television and that she couldn't sing for her life. She was however an avid gardener who had a green thumb. It was said that she could pick up a fallen leaf from the floor and actually grow a plant from it. She literally grew everything. She was especially fond of her flowers which she took great pride in. Rachel, enjoyed Duck Pin Bowling, word games and puzzles as well as crochet. She also volunteered at her church in various needed positions. She was a fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and loved her Soap Operas especially Days of Our Lives. When her children were grow, Rachel worked for the Anne Arundel County Recreations and Parks in Arts and Crafts. She had a positive affinity for babies and children and was known to be able to calm any crying infant. Rachel loved her husband, kids and grandchildren very much.
Surviving Rachel are her devoted daughters, Louise Jane Eskew and Deanna Monda and her wife Marie Daugherty as well as her loving sons Carmen M. Monda, Jr., and James P, Sr., and his wife Julie (nee Adams) Monda. Her memory will be cherished by her beloved grandchildren, James P. Jr., and Brittany Monda, Brandon M. and Brianna M. Eskew and Raymond M. Daugherty. Her brother Clifford Knotts and wife Jean will fondly remember her. Rachel is reunited with her late siblings, Charles, Roy, Mildred, Franklin and Viola in passing.
