Pauline "Penny" E. Schmidt, age 71, passed away on July 1, 2013.  She was a resident of Glen Burnie before moving to Centerville 11 years ago.  Penny was the beloved daughter of the late George Schmidt and Pauline Carroll, dear mother of George Gilchrist, Jr., Paula L. Cross and her husband, Scott Sr., and the late Donna M. Gilchrist, loving sister of Ernie Schmidt, Georgette Bingel, Anna Bruce, Marion Morgan and the late Tom and Buddy Schmidt, Janie Henson and Liz Elkins. She was also the devoted grandmother of Scott C., Donna and Nick Cross and Krystle and Seth Gilchrist. Penny worked as a skilled woodworker doing specialty moulding. She enjoyed making cabinetry for family and friends. She also liked watching Oriole Baseball, puzzles, reading and cooking for the grandchildren for whom she was so proud. The family received friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 3 and a memorial service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 12:00 Noon. Interment: Cedar Hill Cemetery.
