Margaret Ann Atkinson ( nee Payne ) 83,  of Millersville, Maryland  passed away on September 3, 2015. She was born on February 9, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland to George Joseph Payne and Wilhelmina ( nee Kerchner)  Payne. On May 30, 1958, she married her sweetheart, Norman " Bud " Atkinson. They had five children together. She was a homemaker. Margaret was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She lived her life as a devoted member of the Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Bernadette's Parish in Severn, Maryland. Margaret was also a dedicated volunteer in the local food center sharing comfort and compassion with clients.  From 1974-1976, Mrs. Atkinson and her family had the opportunity to live in Iran.  During that time, she was able to tour Europe.  Later, she traveled to Alaska and Hawaii. Margaret was a former Den Mother for the Boy Scouts.  She enjoyed camping, gardening, reading and shopping. Mrs. Atkinson always enjoyed a sale or a coupon. Her family treasured her home made lemon meringue pie and her rice krispy treats.  Margaret especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. The family always enjoyed Christmas and played traditional games such as left, right and left. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Linda Atkinson Sherrod and sisters Anna Roper, Doris Payne and Brothers Joseph Payne, John Payne, Bernard Payne and George Payne. Margaret is survived by her husband Norman "Bud" Atkinson and son Thomas Atkinson and wife Linda of Chesapeake Beach, son Timothy Atkinson and wife Kimberly of Chesapeake Beach, son Daniel Atkinson and wife Sherry of  Pasadena and Michael Atkinson and Kelly of Baltimore. Grandchildren Brigitte and Crystal Sherrod, Timothy R. Atkinson and Shawn Atkinson and wife Leslie, Step- Grandchildren Mandy Connolly, husband Dan, son Erik and Dustin Kirkland. She is also survived by Sisters Marie Floyd, Elizabeth Hess, Brothers Francis Payne, Tom Payne, George Payne and Harry Payne as well as many nieces and nephews.
