IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret C.
(Carswell) Hampe
July 23, 1934 – February 14, 2025
On February 14, 2025, Margaret "Meta" C. Hampe passed in the fullness of her 90th year.
Born the daughter of Alexander and Margaret (ne'e Pollock) Carswell in Chicago, Illinois, she would move with her family to Towson, and finally reside in Parkville.
Meta was a graduate of Towson High School and studied several years to work as an Executive Secretary for a chemical manufacturer. Her life revolved around the Presbyterian church, where she was very active. She had many church friends, participated in various women's groups, and acted as Den Mother for the church's Cub Scout Troop. Meta was an excellent seamstress who created suits and dresses of the highest quality. Following her decision to be a home maker and raise a family, she returned to work mending surgical scrubs and making linens for St. Joseph's Hospital. She liked to crochet, and enjoyed travelling with her husband to destinations such as Alaska and Hawaii, and cruising on Norwegian Cruise Lines as far as the Panama Canal. Meta loved her family and was especially dedicated to her grandchildren, attending every birthday, Grandparents Day, and other family gatherings.
Meta is reunited in her passing with her dear husband Roland "Norman" Hampe (2011), as well as her beloved grandson Nicholas Hampe, and her sister Elspeth "Elsie" Tremain and husband Thomas.
She is survived by her loving brother, Alexander Carswell, Jr. and his wife Eve, her devoted sons Bruce Hampe and his wife Debbie, and Geoffrey Hampe and his wife Michele, and will be cherished in the memories of her loving grandchildren Megan Hagner and husband Chris, Kelsey Schaffer and husband Corey, and Kerri Hampe. She will be deeply missed by her dearest great grandchildren, Leah and Claire Hagner.
