Karen Marie VanRyswyk, born on January 21, 1981 in Melrose Park, Illinois to Beverly and Jerome VanRyswyk, passed away at home on January 10, 2025 in Glen Burnie, Maryland.  She graduated from Glen Burnie High School.  A dedicated supervisor for the Cleaning Authority, Karen was known for her commitment to her work and her ability to lead with kindness and integrity.  Above all, Karen cherished her late son, Kai who was the light of her life.  She enjoyed taking long drives, visiting the beach and most importantly, spending quality time with her family.  A private person by nature, Karen found solace in simplicity and the company of her loved ones.  She is survived by her mother, Beverly Conroy-Kent, and stepfather, Randy Kent.  She is also remembered by her siblings, Jennifer VanRyswyk, Gerald VanRyswyk (Courtney), Michele VanRyswyk (Shannon) and August Blevins (Daniel).  In addition, she leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kai Saunders, grandmother, Veronica "Verne" Conroy, father, Jerome VanRyswyk and uncle, "Terry" Terrance Conroy.  In accordance to her wishes, a private event will be held by invitation only to honor her memory.
