Joseph David Stipe, age 77, passed away on March 28, 2015. He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Jane (nee Coghill), dear brother of Carol Morehead and her husband, David and devoted uncle of Victoria and Christopher Morehead.
Joe was born in Washington, DC, was raised in Bethesda, moved to Laurel, MD before settling in Severn 24 years ago. He attended Bethesda/Chevy Chase High School and then St. Johns Military Acadamy. He then moved on to Montgomery Community College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a marksman during the Korean War. After his tenure in the military, he worked as a Cartologist in the drafting industry and he was also a plexiglas fabricator. Joe was a very spiritual man. He embraced his Native American heritage and cultural history. He studied Shamanism and Native American Spirituality under Sun Bear, a Chippewa Medicine Man. He also studied Christian Mysticism at the Holy Order of MANS.
Among Joe's many hobbies and interests, he liked drag racing, Lapidary, ceramics, leather work and playing blues guitar. He also collected firearms, raised tropical fish, enjoyed Redskins football and Orioles baseball, horseracing and was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
He will truly be missed....
The family has requested a private visitation, but services are open to the public on April 7, 2015 at 7:30 PM at Fink Funeral Home, 426 Crain Hwy S., Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
