On June 26, 2024, Joseph C. Cortina, Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior.  He was in the fullness of his 94th year.

Joseph was born the son of Frank and Maria (nee' Onorato) Cortina at home in Glen Burnie, Maryland,  where he would be a lifelong resident.

He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1947-1948 where he served honorably in the 2nd Signal Co., 2nd Infantry as a Private soldier.  Joseph would go on to have a multi decade career as a Mechanic in the Engineering Department at Procter and Gamble, retiring at age 55.  Keen to build on his success, Joseph then went on to be the owner  and operator of the Ace of Clubs bar, (formerly Captain Buck's).  He also had a passion for day trading which would turn out to be  a very profitable endeavor.  Joseph "really enjoyed playing cards," especially Pinochle.  He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Christ the King) where he served as an usher for many years. His best times, however, were spent in the company of his family and friends.  Finally, like so many of his generation, Joseph was known to be a simple man who worked hard for the ones he loved.

Joseph is now reunited with his dear wife of over 60 years, Georgia ( nee' Glascock),   He is survived by his devoted daughters, Gloria Taylor and  her husband John, Maria Cohee and  spouse Dennis and Peggy Stefko and husband Bob.   Joseph joins ihis beloved sons, the late Joseph , Jr. and  Frank Cortina in passing.  He will be deeply missed by his siblings , Maria "Dollie" Dumsha, Gloria Ladanyi, Penny Houghton and Frank and Jack Cortina.  Joseph's legacy continues in the cherished memories of his many, many grand and many great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family members and a multitude of friends and acquiantances.
