John F. O'Donovan, Sr., age 94, passed away on December 6, 2015.  He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia M. O'Donovan, dear father of Nancy Harlowe and her husband, Ronnie and the late John Jr. who passed away in 2008. John was born in Baltimore in 1921.  He moved to Glen Burnie in the 1940's and married the love of his life, Virginia in 1947.  He was a full blooded Irishman and was proud of his heritage and was a dedicated supporter of Notre Dame.  He bowled on the Delmont Methodist Church League of many years. He worked as a salesman in the pharmaceutical industry, was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Among his many interests, John enjoyed ice skating and sleigh riding with the kids, taking long walks on the B&A bike trail and liked his train gardens.  He was a big fan of the Baltimore Colts and took his kids to Memorial Stadium to root for their favorite team. John was also a proud yet humble veteran of WW 2 serving as a Sergeant, CO. B,  406th Inf./ 102nd Div. in Central Europe and the Rhineland.  He earned a Silver Star, Combat Infantry Badge (Expert Combat Infantryman) as well as the Good Conduct Medal. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at Fink Funeral Home, 426 Crain Hwy S. in Glen Burnie where services will be held Friday at 11:30.
