Irene R. O'Neill, age 90, passed away on August 1, 2014.  She was the beloved wife of the late Francis L. O'Neill, dear mother of Dorothy R. Hurley and the late Joseph O'Neill, dedicated grandmother of 5 grandchildren, one deceased, loving great grandmother of 9 and great great grandmother of 2, devoted sister of deceased siblings and aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was born in Bowens, Maryland in 1924.  At the age of 28, she contracted polio which left her paralyzed from the chest down.  She was wheelchair bound, but like a phoenix, she rose up from tragedy and moved forward in life with great zest and vigor and was totally independent.  She married  the love of her life, Francis, and raised a family together as well as assisting in raising others.  Irene was an exceptional woman with an extremely strong will.  She was very spiritual and generous to all who needed her help.  She lived her life with tremendous integrity and morality. Some of her interests included playing 500 Rummy, crossword puzzles, cooking, canning, flea marketing and Orioles baseball.  Irene also enjoyed being involved with her parish, St. Bernadette Catholic Church, being a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Unit 13 and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 5 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at Fink Funeral Home, 426 Crain Hwy S in Glen Burnie.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take Place at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 6 at 1:15 PM.
