IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Dale
Broadwater
December 1, 1947 – June 15, 2018
Gary Dale Broadwater, 70, of Charlotte Hall, passed peacefully into eternity on June 15, 2018.
The dear son of the recently departed Anne Nora (nee Dieling) and the late Glen Dale Broadwater, he spent most of his life living in the Glen Burnie area until retiring to the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in St. Mary's County. He was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School and upon receiving his diploma, enlisted in the U.S. Army during the height of the Vietnam War. Gary specialized in ordnance and after serving in the Republic of Vietnam finished his duty in Germany. For his faithful service he was awarded an Honorable Discharge at Ft. Dix, NJ., and left the service as a Specialist 4. His awards and medals included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 1 OG Bar and the M-14 Marksman Badge. He was a faithful and true patriot his whole life through.
Following his service to the country, Gary enrolled in Lincoln Technical Institute and earned a certificate in Automotive Mechanics. He obtained a CDL and would later drive buses for a local transportation company. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. It is said he liked, "getting in the car and just goin'. He just liked driving around." He found comfort and relaxation in being on the open road and traveled to various distant locals. He also enjoyed being with people, driving tour buses and even taking seniors to BINGO, where he would sometimes take in a round himself; Sometimes he would even win a round or two. Billards and horse-shoes were also among his favorite past times.
Gary leaves behind his dear children, Laura, Lisa, Grace and David Broadwater and his former spouse and continued friend Barbara. Also surviving him are his loving siblings Wanda Hartman and spouse Larry, Roger and his wife Mary Lou, Chris and his spouse Amy and 'the baby,' Mary Broadwater. He also has two beloved grandchildren Donovan Allen and Ian Buie.
Preceding him is his brother Glen Broadwater.
