"Chuck" Poe
April 17, 1955 – August 11, 2019
Francis Charles Poe, Jr., (Chuck) age 64, surrounded by his family passed away peacefully on August 11, 2019 at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Maryland. Always in the loving care of his son Francis (CJ) and daughter Antoinette, prior to Hospice care he lived with Antoinette in Owings Mill, Maryland. Chuck was born on April 17, 1955, in Pensacola, Florida to Francis "Frank" and Zelma (Norris) Poe, Sr. He graduated from Great Mills High School in 1973. In 1974 Chuck joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1978. In 1984 he received his A.A. degree from Pensacola State College. For several years he worked as an aircraft mechanic for the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Chuck lived life on his terms. He never met a stranger and had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way and always looked out for the underdog. He enjoyed simple pleasures, drawing, painting, fishing, chatting with friends, and family. His friends called him a human fish because of his superb swimming and water sking abilities.
Chuck is preceded in death by his father, Francis (Frank) Poe, Sr., maternal grandparents, Willard and Lucille Norris, paternal grandparents, Ernest and Lola Burnett-Poe.
He is survived by his children, Francis (CJ) Poe, III (Leah), Antoinette Poe, Derrick Poe; Mother, Zelma M. Poe; sister, Rita Kiah (Don), Kenneth Poe (Jody); Grandchildren, Senica Poe-Herbert, Dominic Poe, Elijah Poe, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Chuck touched are invited to the Fink Funeral Home, 426 Crain Highway, Glen Burnie, Maryland, Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just to chat. Reverend Johnny Hodge of Shiloh Baptist Church, Landover, Maryland, Officiating.
