Obituary

Edward Morgan Thomas, Sr., age 93, passed away on June 11, 2016.  Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth E. (nee Zepp) and was husband of nearly 50 years to Shirley (nee Loudenslager).  He is survived by Edward M. Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Shandra "Tiger" Adolf; grandchildren Bryan Thomas and Carolyn (Thomas) Helms and her husband  Jacob, and great grandchildren Alexa and Levi Helms.  Ed is the brother of Charles Thomas and Edith Leach, and was preceded in death by brothers  Lloyd, Wilbur and Thomas and his sister Gloria. Ed was a lifelong resident of the Glen Burnie/Linthicum area.He graduated from Glen Burnie High School and moved forward to managing Acme Food Market. He then proudly served in the United States Navy in WWII with the Seabees, MM3 (T) (CB) from 1943-45 as a heavy equipment operator.  He was a member of the Andrew King VFW Post 3850 in Maui, HI.  After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, Ed was employed by the United States Postal Service where he quickly climbed the ranks.  He joined Management Servicing in which he was Postmaster for Hanover, MD and Assistant Postmaster for Glen Burnie for 32 years. He held the position of MD State President for National Letter Carriers Union and National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).   Ed was a talented leader. He was President/Founder of Pascal Seniors, Incorporated, a non-profit organization, and was very involved in the Pascal Center in Glen Burnie. He will truly be missed....
