Earl Collins, age 89, passed away on December 31, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Mary Thelma (nee Beatty) of Millersville, MD, dear father of Robert Earl Collins of New Windsor, MD, Linda Collins Williams of Odenton, MD and the late Joanne Marie Collins Anderson,devoted grandfather of Angela Schmidt of Stevensville, MD, Samantha Jean Colloins of New Windsor, Md, Tara Christine Collins of NC and the late Vanessa Collins Asher of WVA, loving great grandfather of Sarah and Abigail Kelbe of Stevensville, MD, Isabella Asher of WVA and Theodore "Teddy" Booth of New Windsor, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Earl was born in Baltimore before moving to Millersville 33 years ago. He bravely served our country in the US Navy beginning as a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class during WWII. He participated in Sicily, Italy, and North African landings as well as being involved in landings supporting covert operations behind enemy lines in India. He received the North African-Mediterranean medal with 2 Battle Stars, Asia Pacific Service Medal, WWII Victory and the Good Conduct Medal.
Earl retired from the Baltimore County Police Dept. as a Lieutenant after 30 years of service. 2 Battle Stars. He enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and music including show tunes, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5 from 1-6 PM at Fink Funeral Home, 426 Crain Hwy S. in Glen Burnie where services will be held on Monday at 9:15 AM
