With deep sadness the Boscoe family announces the passing of Deacon John Joseph Boscoe, Jr. on May 11, 2014.
John was born in Fall River, Massachusetts to John J. Sr. and Irene Sullivan where he spent most of his early years until proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force in the Korean War era as a Radar Technician, Airman 1st Class for three years.
He married his hometown sweetheart, Joan Crossley and moved to Maryland where he worked as an Electronics Engineer for the Department of Defense until retiring in 1990. During this time John earned a Masters of Theology from St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore and was an Ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church in 1989 serving the Holy Trinity Catholic Church family until his recent illness. His memberships included the Holy Name Society as well as the Knights of Columbus. He stayed very active with the church particularly volunteering to lead retreats and prayer services.
A perpetual student, John enjoyed academics and advancing his knowledge, even pursuing the Greek language. He was a musician, playing folk music on the guitar and was especially fond of Irish Folk music, part of the passion he held for his Irish heritage. Tennis, canoeing, reading and his tomato garden were enjoyable to him as was the solitude of nature and contemplation over a glass of wine or a pint of Guinness.
A devoted husband and father, he and Joan raised a family of six , namely Cynthia Steele, Sylvia Wiedenhoft, James H., John J., III, Micheal T. and the late Helen Boscoe.
John is also survived by his grandchildren of whom he was so proud, Elizabeth and Chloe Steele, Louis, John and Keith Wiedenhoft, Jr., Michaela, Mackenzie, Lucas, Garrett and John J. Boscoe, IV.
Loving sibling Robert A. survives him yet he is proceeded in death by Irene St. Amond and Ronald Boscoe.
He will be sorely missed.
