IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clara Margaret
(Garner) Raynor
October 3, 1951 – October 26, 2024
On October 26, 2024, Clara Margaret Raynor, "Sunshine Sue," past after an extended period of illness. She was 73.
Born and raised in Prince George's County the daughter of John C and Virginia E. (nee' Burns) where her father was Deputy Sheriff, she would live for a time in Laurel and come to reside in Glen Burnie four years ago.
Sue worked as a cook at the Sunshine Store Restaurant for 20 years and was awarded for crafting the "Best Burger in the DMV" by the Washington Post in 2011. It was said, she had a photographic memory and would take orders while cooking by looking into a mirror above the grill. Sue never had to write down an order and was known for being able to recall individual orders for regular customers. She had a very gentle soul and though she did not own a pet herself, dogs were very attracted to her.
Surviving Sue is her partner of 33 years, her "husband," James Robert "Bob" Whitehead, Sr. as well as her step children Christina Ward and husband Christopher, Tabitha Whitehead-Elkins, Tony Whitehead and wife Beth and James R. Whitehead, Jr. and wife Ashley. She will be cherished in the memory of her sibling, Pete, Joe, Chuck, Ricky, Sandy, Rose and Jeri, as well as several nieces and nephews. Sue is step-grandmother to 11 grand and 2 great grandchildren.
She will be missed.
