Obituary

Suddenly, on February 17, 2017, Charles E. Lester, Sr. passed into eternity.  Born in West Virginia 89 years ago, he resided in the Greater Glen Burnie area since 1947, following military service in World War II. Seaman First Class Lester, USN, served in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS. Washburn ,AKA-108, earning the Pacific Theater and the American Theatre Ribbon as well as the Victory Medal. Charles became a railroad Engineer following his return from war, retiring from CSX with 37 years of faithful service and having worked for B&O and Chessie Systems Railroads. He was a "fitness buff" in his younger years and enjoyed fishing, crabbing as well as working in the garden.  Charles was also a member of the Stoney Creek Rod & Reel Club.  Of particular interest later in life was flea marketing and auctions, however his greatest joy was enjoying a good meal with friends and family, particularly at local restaurants.  Even in his declining years, with frail health, he, "never lost his appetite." Charles leaves behind his dear wife of 67 years, Betty J. nee Lawrence as well as his children Linda Novak and spouse Ed, Gus and spouse Debbie and Kenneth and spouse Linda and the late Charles, Jr.  His legacy continues with his loving grandchildren Tina White, Lisa Bolter, Lanay Mierzeski, Beth Ann Paquette and Chad Lester, as well as 10 great grand children. He will be sorely missed.........
