IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Lee
Davis, Sr
October 29, 1939 – April 28, 2020
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Charles Lee Davis, Sr. of Manchester, Md. He was 80.
The son of Howard W. and Ruth Ann (nee Davis) in Martinsville, Va. he would later settle with his family in Ferndale, Md. in 1946. In time Charles would graduate high school and enlist in the United States Navy being trained as a Machinist Mate. Following seven years of honorable service he then worked at his father's business, the Howard W. Davis Manufacturing Company, where he continued to use his skills. During these years he would live in Crownsville, eventually moving back to Virginia for several decades. Charles would ultimately live the balance of his years in Manchester with his special friends Ruth Ann and Grady McCoury.
Charles , a man of faith, was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church in Maryland and the Roaring Creek Baptist Church in North Carolina. He was also a Mason and the Past Master of the Waverly Masonic Lodge. An avid outdoorsman, he was deeply devoted to his fellow sportsmen at the Griffith Hunt Club in Virginia. He would enjoy time canoeing and boating and loved to take cruises and train trips. Charles and his brother Jon even participated in drag racing for a time. "He had lots of hobbies from woodworking to whatever, he always loved projects; He loved life," it was said. Although Charles made a career with his skills as a Machinist, a trade which he had diversified credentials in, he also worked as a Mechanical Engineer and finally as an Escort for the Department of Defense.
Surviving Charles are his loving son Charles "Chris" L. Davis, Jr. and his beloved daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Pastrana and her husband Juan and step-daughter Paula Goldman and her husband Dan. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Bonnie Wilson, Howard W., Jr. and wife Sandra and Jon P. Davis and spouse Belinda. He will ever be cherished by his beloved grand children, Zachary Davis, Alexis, Allysa and Vikel J. Cunningham, Jr., and Hunter Davis, as well as one dear great grandchild, Leilani Davis.
Charles will be deeply missed........ .
