Sadly, on May 6, 2017, Charles Gustav Baesch, Jr. went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness.
Born in Baltimore 83 years ago, he was raised in the Brooklyn area moving to Glen Burnie in 1958. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the mid to late 50's then pursued a civilian career as a tool and die maker/machinist for Seagrams' Distillery, where he retired after 30 years of service.
Charles liked to go flea marketing and visit yard sales. He also enjoyed dancing and playing pool. With a natural affinity for fixing and repairing things, he volunteered his time and skills to help maintain pool cues at the Pascal Senior Center where he was a member. He is a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 40, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Glen Burnie, as well as the Glen Burnie Moose and also practiced his faith at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brooklyn.
Of all of his various interests, Charles is best remembered for his love of golf. He was known to hit the green as soon as the dew evaporated. He also collected golf related paraphernalia and is known to have a generous number of golf balls.
Charles is survived by his dear friend of 25 years, Carolyn Arnold as well as his son, Charles G., III and Beth E. Bandy.
He leaves a daughter, Candace G. Bavis as well as his loving sister Nancy L. Howell. His extended family includes Karen Dowell, Danny J. Sr. and JoAnn Arnold , John J, II and Jennifer Lucke, their son, Jax, Danny J. Arnold, Jr. and Charles' former wife and friend, Doris Ives and her husband, Richard.
His legacy continues with their grandsons, Kirk and Chase Bavis and great-grandson Jamie Bavis.
He will be sorely missed.......
