Obituary

Barbara Ann Kunkel (Knight), of Ferndale, Maryland, was born on July 5, 1949, and peacefully left this world on March 17, 2026, surrounded by love.


She was the beloved daughter of George Knight Sr. and Helen Knight, and the sister of George Knight Jr., Ray Knight, and Charles Knight.


Barbara was a vibrant and fun-loving woman who found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. Whether it was camping trips, beach vacations, dancing, or celebrating holidays together, she created countless memories that will be cherished forever.


She also had a love for race cars and proudly owned a 1966 Chevelle, reflecting her spirited and adventurous personality.


She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Kunkel Sr.; her children, Kimberly Ann Kunkel (Travis Koballa), Donald Kunkel Jr., Steven Knight (Heather Knight), Michael Knight (Sarah Knight), and Scott Knight (Michelle Knight, preceded in death).


She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Dustin Knight, Brittany Michaud, Scott Knight Jr., Alicia Knight (preceded in death), Kodie Knight, Kourtnie Knight, Karli Butler, Justina Knight, Kassidy Knight, Jordan Knight, Kaiulani Koballa, and Micenzie Knight; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Ronnie Vest Jr., Layla Knight, Kenzi Knight, and Skye Knight. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.


A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Fink’s Funeral Home.


A viewing for immediate family will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A public viewing for family and friends will follow from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM.


Interment will take place immediately following the service at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie, Maryland.


A celebration of life will be held at a later date.


She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, laughter, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
