Azalea Golden Moore, known to many as "Gommie", age 91, passed away on November 24, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Doyl H. Moore who passed in 2002, dear mother of Doyl A. Moore ("Buddy"), Colleen Viles and her husband, Roamey and Patricia Smith, loving grandmother of Eileen Stanfield and her husband, Dave, Jaymer Smith, cherished great grandmother of Macie Brown, Jacob Stanfield and Cameron Smith and devoted sister of Leon Rohrer and Tink Stangle.
Gommie was born in Maryland in 1926. She was an Air Force wife for 28 years, traveling to many bases including South Carolina, Pittsburgh, PA., Massachusetts, Texas and even England. Everyone was always welcome in her home. When her son came home from Vietnam, his soldier buddies would also have a place to stay and a warm meal. Cooking wasn't her forte but she made the best slippery pot pie, which is an Amish meal.
There wasn't a person that she didn't like. She was good hearted to a fault and befriended everyone.
Later in life, she and her husband, Doyl joined the Baybrook Senior Center where they enjoyed their many bus trips and outings. Her passion was as a volunteer at what was then North Arundel Hospital. In 2002, she was honored for 60,000 hours of service. She continued volunteering for another 10 years.
Her husband, Doyl kept a daily diary. She broken heartedly wrote his last entry, "61 years together is too hard to bear it alone. I know Heaven will never be Heaven until we are both together again."
Gommie touched many lives and will truly be missed.....
