Obituary

Anthony Wayne Jordon, Senior, 69, of Glen Burnie, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2016 in the comfort of his home. Affectionately known as Tony, he was born in Pennsylvania, to the late Mamie and Earnest Jordon on March 29, 1947, and preceded in death by his sister Linda J. Williams. Tony attended public schools in Texas, Virginia, & Maryland, and later enlisted in the United States Army from August 1968 through August 1971.  Tony achieved the rank of E-3, Private First Class and served in Germany and Vietnam during his tour of service.  Shortly afterwards, he received an honorable discharge, but not before being awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter (rifle). Following his military experience, he started working as a correctional officer for the State of Maryland.   He earned numerous awards from the Maryland Correctional Training Commission and the Maryland Police Training Commission.  He later married his wife on November 24, 1973.  Shortly thereafter, Tony enrolled in school again, later receiving his associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Catonsville Community College. Tony retired from the State in 1999 and later worked for the IRS from 2000-2005. Tony was a passionate, God-fearing man, as a member of Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, who loved his family and enjoyed helping others.  An avid sports lover, he was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and the Dallas Cowboys. Tony is survived by his wife Cecelia, his two sons Anthony Jordon Jr. and Eric Jordon, his daughter-in-law Colleen Parris Jordon, his niece Jacy Jordon-Patterson, two great-nephews Jamal & Jarel Patterson, as well as a host of many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and other friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, 5 2nd Ave SE, Glen Burnie, MD 21061, starting at 10:00 am. The funeral celebration will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd., Crownsville, MD 21032, at 1:45pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association
