Obituary

Anna Viola Hoppa, 91,  a long time resident of Anne Arundel County died May 27 surrounded by family. Anna was born November 26, 1920 in Severn to John and Pelagia Blackowicz.  As a life time member of Our Lady of the Fields Church in Millersville she served the church community as a Member of the Altar Society,  Carroll Club, Parish Council, and Holy Name Society.  She dedicated her life to preparing and serving food at various state agencies and private industries as well as at numerous church and other volunteer functions. Mrs. Hoppa was preceded in death by her husband John M. Hoppa Sr.  She is survived by two daughters Susanna Houff and husband Thomas of Wallace, NC and Mary Ann McCourt and husband Dennis of Southport, NC; four sons Edward Hoppa and wife Karol of Salisbury, MD, Joseph Hoppa and wife Rebecca of Selbyville, DE,  James Hoppa and wife Nancy of Berlin, MD, and John Hoppa Jr. and wife Joan of Hanover, MD;  ten grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 3 to 5 pm  and 7 to 9 pm  Thursday, May 31 at Fink Funeral Home, Glen Burnie, MD from 3-5 & 7-9 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Friday, June 1 at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, Millersville, MD.  Interment at the church cemetery will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caritas House Assisted Living, 3308 Benson Avenue, Baltimore MD 21227.
