On August 25, 2019, Mary Margaret Sheets-Welch passed after a sudden illness. She was 92.
Born to Joseph H. and Priscilla Mae Barley in Bellwood, Pennsylvania where she would spend her youth, she would later marry the love of her life, Austin Sheets and move to Dundalk, Maryland in the early 1950's. The Sheets' would eventually find themselves living in the Glen Burnie area where they raised a family and together and were the owners and operators of Kamper's Hut. Mary saw to the daily operations and Austin was the repair specialist. Mary would hold the position of Secretary for the Good Sams Club, an organization dedicated to the RV lifestyle, Austin being Director of the Maryland Chapter. In the opening years of the 1980's Mary and Austin would repair to Florida to care for an aging parent, ending their successful run as entrepreneurs. Austin would ultimately pass in Florida after 40 years of marriage to Mary. She would return to Maryland in the late 80's where she would spend the balance of her life. In later years, Mary devoted herself to the writing of poetry. She believed that God led her in this endeavour, which she poured heart and soul. She would publish two books of poetry, "Spiritual Poetry of God's Vision," and "Life's Poems," which received acclaim by both the Baltimore Sunpaper and the Towson Times. She was a trailblazer and knew how to motivate people. In that same spirit, Mary led the poetry club at Trinity House Assisted Living as well as overseeing Bible study for a time. Mary was a kind and loving person as evidenced by her large circle of friends. She was a dear wife, loving mother, grandmother and sister.
Surviving her are her children Carol Wingard and husband Michael and Richard Sheets. Mary joins her dear daughter Connie Kelley in passing. Connie's spouse Brian survives her. She is the beloved grandmother of Matthew Kunz and wife Jessica and Karie Ann Whelan; step grandchildren Jennifer and Josh King and Michael Wingard Jr. , beloved great grandmother of Julia, Anna and Joey Wingard and Simon Kunz, Zoey Powers, Halley Rejrat and Ella King. Mary will be missed by her siblings Linda Rhodes, Jenny Showalter, Clarabelle Huber, Charles Barley and Paul Barley. She joins her siblings, Hilda Dougal, Joseph Barley Jr. and Samuel Barley in death.
She will be sorely missed.......
