Obituary

On December 9, 2019, Marjorie Dean Oppert, (nee Bentley) went home to be with the Lord.  She was in the fullness of her ninety-third year.

Born in Georgia, the daughter of Ben Frank and Ruby (nee Miles) Bentley, she would spent her youth in Pelham, later repairing to Maryland in 1957 where she would ultimately spend many years as a Glen Burnie resident.

Married in 1946 to the late Thad B. Oppert, Jr, they would spend 37 glorious years together before Thad  went home in 1983.  During these years, Marjorie helped to support her family working in retail with firms such as Hoschel-Kohn, Hutzler's and finally Value City.  When she retired she had worker fourty years in the same building, the last of the old Glen Burnie Mall.

She was a dedicated Christian who worshiped at Faith Baptist church, where she also served as a Sunday School teacher.  Her faith and her family were very important to her and she found great joy in simply spending time with those she loved, grandchildren and great grandchildren in particular.  It was said she took pleasure making food for people and made the best iced tea in town.  Marjorie was an avid reader and enjoyed country music and  would not miss watching the country music awards on television.

Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend of many.

Surviving are is her loving daughter, Lisa Mae and spouse Stephen LaPlanche and two devoted sons, Thad B., III and James Oppert.  She joins her beloved daughter Patricia Ann Castor in heaven.  Marjorie will be missed by her dear brother Roger Bentley and wife Susan.  She is preceded by her loving sister Dorothy Grant.  Finally, Marjorie will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren, Krystle Lynn Backstrom and husband Kevin, Jason Dean and Chad Micheal LaPlanche and Sabrina Cavin and spouse Coby as well as beloved great-grand children, Nevaeh LaPlanche, Pheobe, KC, Maximus and Penelope Cavin.

She will be sorely missed........
