MSGT Roger Wills, USAF, Ret. Obituary

Sadly, on November 7, 2019, Roger Lee Wills passed, surrounded by his loving family.  He was 69.

Born to the loving Doris (nee Sapp) and the late Louis Wills in Uniontown, PA., he would spend most of his early years in Glen Burnie.  When Roger came of age he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he would spend twenty years assigned to various duty stations spanning the globe.  By the time of  retirement he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant, earning the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal with one silver cluster, Air Force Recognition Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, the Overseas Long Tour Service Ribbon with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four oak clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with oak leaf,  Small Arms Expert Marksman Ribbon and finally the Air Force Training Ribbon.  His greatest reward however was seeing his grandson follow in his footsteps as an Airman.

Settling in Ferndale following discharge from the military,  Roger would put down roots.  He met the love of his life Linda Carol (nee Smith) and following a decades long love affair, they would marry in 2013.  During these years Roger would  take a second career with the Veterans Administration ultimately retiring with 15 years on the job.

During his leisure time, He enjoyed a game of pool at  American Legion Post 34, where he would enjoy the friendship of his fellow veterans and enjoy an ice cold Budweiser.  He also competed in shooting darts for a time and had competed in a bowling league during his tour in Germany.

Surviving Roger are his children Lisa Lynch and her husband Mike and David L. Wills and his wife Anita Ward.  He is also survived by his stepson Tim Smith and wife Karen, Kell, Alyssa and Kara Wills.  His legacy continues with many grandchildren, including Taylor N. Wills, Matthew Shanks, Summer Knickman, Delaney and Michael Lynch, Kaitlyn and Kayla Smith and Danielle Pucciarella-Galkova.  His great grandchildren,  Hayden Laughman, Layla and Koda Shanks, Cruz and Ace Gervin and Victoria, Niko and Roslyn Galkova will cherish his memory.  Roger leaves one sister, Shirley E. Lingo and joins the late Susan L. Gibson and Sharon Hodges in rest.  Roger will be particularly missed by his childhood friend Jean Snowden.  And finally, he leaves behind his beloved dogs, Little Bear and Lamb Chops whom he lovingly referred to as the "little maggots."

He will be sorely missed.......
