Suddenly and tragically, on June 1, 2018, Donald Roy McKean, Jr., " Donnie," a well known and beloved husband , father and businessman passed after a brief illness. He was 64.
A principled man of impeccable character, he spent many years living and working in the Glen Burnie area.
He is the devoted husband of Stella (nee Pompanio) with whom he shared a deep and lasting love. In all their years he never spoke an unkind or coarse word toward her. They enjoyed eating out and vacationing together and generally spending quality time with each other. His other interested include camping and hunting, quality time spent with his boys. He loved classic car shows and in the recent past obtained his own 'hot rod', a beloved 1930 Chevy pickup truck converted to a "woodie."
The proprietor for 43 years of Jim Donnie's RV Service Center, he started out the business as a conversion van business, eventually growing into what it has now become. "He was always honest and fair," and "no one had a bad thing to say about him."
It was said that there was something in the way he related with people, "How he treated people in general......," "When you were around him you just wanted to be good."
Donnie consistently put others needs before his own; "He would do anything for anyone," and he was generous beyond compare.
He is survived by two sons "Lil Donnie" Donald R., III and Bryant T. and spouse Jovonna as well as his dear grand daughter Naomi Elizabeth McKean. Donnie leaves behind a brother, "Bucky" Clarence Helmer and spouse Rosemary and "Uncle Hoop" Bryant Gillham. He is the favorite nephew of "Auntie Carol" and is survived by several other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceding him is his brother Donald Fisher and his beloved dog "Loki."
Donnie will also be missed by friends and acquaintances too numerous to mention.
It was said of his passing, "We lost one of the good guys...."
He will be sorely missed.
