Charles Oliver Thompson,Jr., 92, a resident of Glen Burnie since 1956, peacefully departed this life for eternity.
Born in Westport, he is the son of the late Charles O. Sr., and Bertha Lee (nee Morsberger).
A machinist and tool and die maker by trade, he worked for the National Security Agency in the fabrication shop, retiring after a 25 year career.
In his early years Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing and was also a Mason attending the Glen Burnie Lodge. His past times also included Square Dancing which he very much enjoyed sharing with his wife of 72 years Lorraine Mae (nee Miller). He also belonged to Glen Burnie Baptist Church where he faithfully attended until recently.
Charles served in the United States Navy as Machinist Mate 2c during World War 2 and earned the Pacific and American Theatre medals as well as the Philippine Liberation and World War 2 Victory medals.
He is survived by his dear son Gary L. Thompson and spouse Janet, daughters, the loving Cheryl L. and husband Ed Ritz and the beloved Yvonne J. Thompson and daughter- in- law Margaret "Peg" spouse of his late son Charles III. Charles is survived by 5 grand and 6 great grand children.
