On March 18, Dorothy A. Smith, nee Smorgens, entered eternal rest with her Lord and Saviour. She was 95.
Born to Edmund and Rachel, nee Keersbilk, Smorgens, in Baltimore nearly a century ago, she lived her life in the greater Baltimore area since 1965 and Glen Burnie for the last 24 years.
Dorothy is the wife of the late Robert F., of 69 years. Together they spent an abundant life raising their children and making the most of every day.
Mrs. Smith was quite active at Bethany Lutheran Church as well as Resurrection Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park where she volunteered in the Alter Guild and helped to keep the church clean and in order.
Retirement was an especially fruitful time for Dorothy as she and Robert indulged their favorite pastime, golfing, particularly in Florida as members of the "Over The Hill Gang." She truly loved the sport but was also a great singer and dancer and an accomplished seamstress. Dorothy enjoyed making her own cloths, curtains and even an evening gown she wore during a cruise holiday. She was also an excellent cook and hosted many family gatherings cooking all of the meals from scratch. Most of all she loved her family and friends and was loved in return.
Surviving Dorothy are her daughter Tena M. Smith and son Robert William "Bill" and his wife Maria, together with grandchildren Christopher and his wife Erin, Jaimie, Jennifer and her husband Jeff and great grandchildren Owen, Gabriella and Jaxson.
She is also survived by sisters, Rachel White, Margaret Eisenlohr and Sylvia DeCoursey as well as her brother Edmund "Eddie" Smorgens.
